Today, I've discovered this incredible Marble Machine, created by Wintergatan with wood gears, springs and lots of lego pieces to program the main melody. It uses thousands of marbles to play a combination of vibraphone, bass guitar and a cardboard based drumset.
You can watch the two parts making to see how he constructed the whole machine.

So I'm a geek, and love math, and so have always stumbled across this kind of songs. I've already posted a Song from π , here's a reply with π's nemesis : τ1.
1 : π is the ratio between a circle's circumference and it's diameter, roughly 3.14159. τ (pronounced tau) is the ratio between the circumference and the radius, so it's two times π, that is 6.28318.

This project features something I've thought of doing myself : record someone's voice (or even an instrument), detect the note frequencies to then write up the score of what is played. This could be great when improvising melodies.

Here's a preview of what it does, and for those interested, below is a tutorial demonstrating all the features of this software . And for those really interested, you can get it for $300.

Okay a little bit geeky, nonetheless, I'll just share this one as I always loved genetic algorithms, and the rules around counterpoint are just fascinating. And for the devs watching this, here's a link to Nicholas' project on Github.

I've always liked when artist try to make a cover of a famous piece with a style twist. And on the subject, I discovered an album of Beatles go baroque by P. Breiner. Here, Michael Jackson's Thriller and Billie Jean are played in the style of Bach.
